Easter / Holy Week

We keep the celebration and joy of Jesus’ Resurrection as the central focus of our Holy Week events (April 1 through April 9), while incorporating a variety of creative visual and audio elements.

For our Guests,
During your visit, be sure to connect with our Welcome Team at the Welcome Desk, or one of our Pastors in the church foyer or in the courtyard after church. They would be happy to answer any specific questions, provide more information about our church culture, and even give you a welcome packet!

LEARN WHAT WE BELIEVE

HOLY WEEK EVENTS – a great way to spend your Easter is with Delaney Church!

We invite you for a time of worship as we continue to remember and reflect on what Christ has done on Calvary’s Cross through His Sacrifice, Atonement and Resurrection. Our Holy Week (Passion Week Services) and events are listed below. We would be honored to have you, your neighbors, family and friends join us. This is an invitation to look at Christ Himself and what He accomplished on the Cross!

In Luke 10:2-3, Jesus told his followers to roll out the red carpet to His Kingdom by FIRST, praying, THEN inviting! WHO WILL YOU INVITE?

COLORS ON THE OUTDOOR CROSS

Three different colors of fabric are used in draping the cross during the Easter season: purple, black, and white. This Christian tradition commemorates important events in the life of Jesus beginning with Palm Sunday and continuing through His Ascension to Heaven.

On PALM SUNDAY, the cross should be draped in purple fabric, which represents Jesus’ royalty. It signifies the importance of Jesus Christ entering Jerusalem as King. Yes, Jesus is indeed the King of the Jews, but He is much more than that. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords. (I Timothy 6:15)

On GOOD FRIDAY, the cross should be draped in black fabric, representing the death of Jesus Christ as full payment for the sins of all mankind. (2 Corinthians 5:15)

On EASTER SUNDAY, the cross should be draped in white, which represents the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. The white fabric should remain on the cross from Easter Sunday until Ascension Day, which occurs 39 days after Easter Sunday. Hallelujah, Jesus is risen from the dead and He is alive forevermore. Amen, and amen! (John 2:19-22, John 20:1-18)

The empty cross is a reminder to all the world that “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

WAYS TO INVITE PEOPLE TO EASTER SUNDAY SERVICE

Sometimes, inviting friends or neighbors to church can be uncomfortable. Sadly, this is because many of us don’t do it very often. This Easter, extend the love of Christ to those around by inviting them to church on Easter Sunday — the day of new life, resurrection, and hope! Relationships always start with an invitation, from one person to another. Here are some ways you can extend an invitation to those around you:

1. Pray for them by name, before inviting them.

2. Be specific.

3. Have compassion toward their insecurities about church.

4. Use social media.

5. If all else fails…just ask!
